Ciara Tuite is a Visual Artist and writer, originally from the Midlands, Ireland with a background in Journalism, Performing Arts and Fine Art. She has travelled extensively spending time amongst Aboriginal artists in
Australia, Butoh dancers in Scandinavia, researching Refugee Camps in Palestine and recently studying movement in Rishikesh India. This has resulted in a multidisciplinary approach to her practice.
She has exhibited throughout Ireland and has been awarded residences at home and abroad. Solo exhibitions include - 'Heavy Stuff, Light Us', The Cowshed Theatre, Farmleigh Estate, Dublin (July '24), 'The Body
Remembers', Siamsa Tire, Tralee, Co. Kerry (Sept-Oct '23), 'Rock, Paper, Portal', Cill Rialaig Arts Centre, Co. Kerry, Ireland (July-August 2022) and 'Nostalgia' at New Library, Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford (Dec 2021).
Ciara's work is defined by bright tones and gestural brushstrokes. It focuses on the physicality of painting, coupled with instinctive mark making as she continues to explore the recurrent theme in her work of 'body memory'
through colour, word and abstraction.
Ciara is a recipient of Art Bursary awards from Longford and Kerry County Council and is currently Artist In Residence at Engage Studios, Longford Town, Co. Longford.
